How to measure your wall for wallpaper
You’ll need a tape measure, a pen and paper.
- Measure the width. Measure from left to right at the top, middle and bottom of the wall. Record the widest measurement.
- Measure the height. Measure from the ceiling to the top of the skirting board at the left, centre and right. Record the tallest measurement.
- Include doors and windows. For a custom mural, measure the full wall without subtracting these openings. The wallpaper is trimmed around them during installation.
- Measure each wall separately. Label them Wall 1, Wall 2, etc. For sloping ceilings, record the maximum height and draw a simple sketch showing the slope.
- Check the trimming allowance. Extra wallpaper is needed to allow for uneven walls and trimming. Confirm how much to add before ordering, and whether it is already included.
- Double-check and take a photo. Send your measurements as width × height, clearly stating centimetres or millimetres, along with a straight-on photo of each wall.
Example: Wall 1 — 350 cm wide × 240 cm high, before any trimming allowance.
How to install paste-up wallpaper
You’ll need suitable wallpaper adhesive, a roller or brush, a spirit level, a wallpaper smoother, a sharp trimming knife and a clean sponge.
- Prepare the wall. Make sure it is smooth, clean and completely dry. Remove old wallpaper, fill holes and sand uneven areas. Prime or seal the wall where required.
- Check the wallpaper. Lay out the panels in the correct order and check the design, colour and measurements before applying adhesive.
- Mark a straight starting line. Use a spirit level to draw a vertical guide for the first panel—corners are not always straight.
- Apply the adhesive. Use the recommended paste and follow the supplied instructions. Paste-the-wall wallpaper requires adhesive directly on the wall; paste-the-paper wallpaper may require soaking time.
- Hang and smooth. Position the first panel against your guide, leaving excess at the top and bottom for trimming. Gently smooth from the centre outwards to remove air bubbles.
- Match the next panel. Align the design carefully and follow the supplied instructions for joining the edges. Gently wipe away excess paste immediately with a clean, slightly damp sponge.
- Trim and allow to dry. Carefully trim excess wallpaper with a sharp blade. Let it dry naturally, avoiding strong draughts or direct heat.

Wallpaper Care & Maintenance
Our hospital-grade wallpapers are water-resistant, anti-fungal and mould-resistant. Follow these simple steps to keep them looking their best:
- Dust gently. Use a clean, soft microfibre cloth to remove surface dust.
- Wipe away marks. Use a soft, slightly damp cloth. For stubborn marks, try a little mild soap diluted in lukewarm water. Always test on a small, hidden area first.
- Dry after cleaning. Remove any soap residue with a clean, lightly damp cloth, then gently pat dry. Avoid soaking the wallpaper, particularly around seams and edges.
- Protect the finish. Avoid abrasive sponges, vigorous scrubbing, bleach or strong chemicals unless specifically approved for your wallpaper.
- Control moisture. Keep rooms well ventilated and address leaks or damp promptly. Anti-fungal and mould-resistant properties do not replace proper moisture control.
